I would say that I feel like everybody
00:06
wants to be part of a winning team and
00:08
how do you really say that so I can come
00:10
before you guys and say oh we’re the
00:12
best did we rock or we can show you how
00:14
how well we’re doing so some things that
00:17
we’ve done is apply for different awards
00:19
that are involved in like the facilities
00:21
world so we had a football field we were
00:25
the only grass field left in our
00:26
conference everybody else had gone to
00:28
turf and so our field was pretty ratty
00:31
and it was tough to play on and it took
00:33
a lot of labour to keep it up but our
00:35
guys were like you know what which lets
00:36
beat Lambeau south so we sorry to the
00:39
Cowboys so these don’t say sorry these
00:46
guys on our team really rocked it out
00:48
they they made numbers and stripes and
00:50
all types of stuff on our football field
00:52
they brought in a guy from Miller Park
00:54
to give us some tips on best practices
00:57
we got rid of some invasive species that
00:59
were growing in there and we just put
01:01
together an amazing field and we were
01:02
recognized as one of the top 75 grass
01:05
fields in the nation so that was just
01:07
something that was so exciting and
01:08
that’s a continuous improvement journey
01:10
and so how do I keep engaging him that I
01:12
always remind him of where we were so to
01:15
bring to a staff meeting or put a
01:16
Facebook post up look at our football
01:18
field five years ago and the funny thing
01:20
was I stood on their bleachers five
01:22
years ago and took a picture of her
01:24
field and I was like proud I’m like wow
01:26
look at those stripes and then to see
01:27
where we came five years later it was
01:29
just incredible so little winds like
01:32
that to always help them see why we’re
01:34
doing what we’re doing because it’s a
01:35
lot of work that goes into it and we all
01:37
know our staffs or budgets aren’t
01:39
getting bigger so I think Stu ters main
01:41
goal is to create engagement and what is
01:44
engagement it’s going above what’s
01:46
expected so I’ll take employees that’ll
01:48
do what’s expected but the ones that are
01:50
putting together that an award-winning
01:52
football field those are the ones that
01:53
are creating a dynamic place to work and
01:56
to educate Jeremih hit on something to
01:58
the celebration part every summer next
02:00
week we’re planning our annual
02:02
celebration so what we do is our whole
02:04
staff even our seasonal workers they
02:05
work hard this summer also we bring them
02:07
together at the high school have a pizza
02:09
party we go over our scorecard where we
02:12
were where we were we results for the
02:14
year where we want to go this next year
02:16
so we do that every year
02:17
just to kind of keep them in front of
02:18
all this what’s going on and how we like
02:20
Jeremiah also touched on where we came
02:22
from where we are now that’s that’s
02:24
important the the guy that helped
02:26
spearhead the football field restoration
02:28
I was talking about he was a custodian
02:31
second shift and so we made a shift to
02:33
save some money and have this guy be our
02:35
groundskeeper and the school board said
02:37
to me when we took him on you’re not
02:38
gonna put a custodian on a lawn mower
02:40
and make a great football field so that
02:43
was a great story to come back to and so
02:44
I actually had that guy present at the
02:47
board meeting where we were giving our
02:48
annual update and it was cool to show
02:50
off the field but it was really cool to
02:51
hear him say he said if I can make a
02:54
difference in the kids that are playing
02:55
footballs experience about football that
02:58
might lead them to get a scholarship or
03:00
be more engaged that’s what I’m in it
03:01
for so he could be talking about how
03:03
cool the field is but he was bringing it
03:05
back to the students and it was great to
03:06
see somebody that was cleaning toilets a
03:08
couple years earlier
03:09
getting some pretty cool recognition
