00:02
so for us standard of practice is really
00:07
setting expectations about what is
00:11
important to us what are our values how
00:13
do we define them and what are some
00:15
indicators that show us we’re moving in
00:18
the right direction yeah this is where
00:22
I’m at okay
00:23
so here here’s one of them
00:26
accountability was very big for us it
00:29
was something that in the past well
00:33
there was really zero accountability if
00:35
you were asked to do something if you
00:39
didn’t do it instead of holding you
00:41
accountable for not doing it we gave it
00:43
to somebody else one of our high
00:44
performers who already had 10 tasks on
00:48
their desk because they would get it
00:51
done whether or not they had to work the
00:52
weekend or stay the night you know they
00:55
didn’t have family they didn’t want time
00:56
off so we moved that around in a way
01:01
that burned out our high performers so
01:06
for us this was an important one keeping
01:09
people accountable now when you look at
01:12
this it seems very general and probably
01:14
from the 10,000 foot view but what this
01:18
does is it ties into the score cards and
01:22
this is a document we can provide every
01:27
supervisor to guide through the
01:30
evaluation process because now instead
01:33
of just having subjective expectations
01:38
that I the supervisor think are
01:40
important we have organizational
01:43
expectations that are important to us
01:46
and you tie those in annually and then
01:51
all of a sudden this information starts
01:53
drilling down to those frontline
01:55
employees that realize you know what I
01:59
do have a piece in this and this is how
02:03
my supervisor is keeping me accountable
02:05
and this is how I’m being held to the
02:08
mission of the college and and for us
02:11
this is what’s going to get us through
02:14
our third year
02:15
and I am confident of that because for
02:18
our third year we really haven’t left
02:21
many questions this is where we’re going
02:24
we have accountability we have
02:27
collaboration we have innovation we have
02:31
respect and service and Trust
02:36
we have integrity but it was split up
02:39
and it was being difficult so I just
02:41
figured I’d mention it instead of trying
02:43
to scramble it on another slide oh my
02:46
gasps huh it’s there but so for us this
02:53
has provided some guidance one of our
02:58
biggest initiatives is this is gonna be
03:00
put placed in all of our new hard
03:02
packets so from day one these employees
03:06
walking in the door will know what we
03:09
consider as important and critical to
03:12
our colleges mission our supervisors are
03:16
gonna be basing evaluations off of these
03:19
standards of practice this is how we
03:23
will refocus every time things begin to
03:26
get cloudy so with that said I just want
03:32
to leave one one more comment
03:36
I had an employee come to me not one of
03:40
mine but a college employee that said
03:42
you know I get it I understand where
03:46
we’re going and what we’re doing but I
03:48
keep seeing the word trust what does
03:51
that mean
03:53
can you define trust for me and it was
03:57
like well you know okay I said well for
04:01
me trust is three things competency
04:06
reliability and sincerity and I think
04:12
our Chancellor our executive team and
04:14
our steering committee have committed to
04:17
all three of those things and that will
04:20
be one of the biggest things that helped
04:23
us move forward because I will tell you
04:25
I’ve been employed with this College
04:27
since 2006
04:28
and Trust is not something we’ve had
04:32
since before I arrived so the fact that
04:36
we have even this much or this much
04:39
wherever we are on the needle is a
04:43
million times better than we were before
